Policy of the Board of Bar Examiners Regarding Lapsed Certificates of Eligibility for Admission to the Practice of Law
In the event that an applicant’s Certificate of Eligibility for Admission to the Practice of Law lapses because the applicant fails to be sworn in for more than 12 months from the date the Certificate was issued, the applicant will be required to undergo an abbreviated fitness investigation and pay a fee of $800. After the applicant receives a renewed certification of fitness from the Board to Determine Fitness of Bar Applicants and satisfies any other eligibility requirements required under the Rules Governing Admission to the Practice of Law, the applicant will be issued a new Certificate of Eligibility, which, pursuant to Part B, Section 8 (e) of the Rules, will expire no later than three years after the date the original Certificate was issued.
